What, pray tell, will happen when Jimmy Kimmel Live broadcasts five nights of shows from Austin during SXSW for the week of March 10, 2014?
He’ll be up against Jimmy Fallon in the 11:35 p.m. timeslot (10:35 p.m. Central!), for one thing.
For his part, Kimmel said: “Austin is one of my favorite cities and there is no place more fun than SXSW. I can’t wait for March 10. I’ll be the guy covered in BBQ sauce.”
He already has received an offer from Salt Lick to eat there, and he has been there, done that, will do so again, according to his Twitter feed today.
JKL will broadcast five episodes from The Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long Center for the Performing Arts overlooking downtown Austin, Auditorium Shores and Lady Bird Lake. He’ll be sure to have his pick of the litter from all of the musicians, comedians, filmmakers and tech people who converge upon the Texas capital city each March.
Kimmel’s trip to his native Brooklyn in November 2012 included interviews with his idol, David Letterman, and other NYC-centric guests Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Tracy Morgan, Kelly Ripa, Howard Stern, Chris Rock, Alicia Keys, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, Vampire Weekend and the Avett Brothers with the Brooklyn Philharmonic. Jimmy Kimmel Live also broadcast outside of Hollywood in 2006, visiting Detroit for the week leading up to that year’s Super Bowl.
