Artie Lange might not be back on Howard Stern, but his comeback is in full effect.
Lange has been performing stand-up comedy regularly at The Comedy Cellar and appearing at other comedy clubs in New York City over the past couple of weeks, and today, Nick DiPaolo announced that he and Lange would have their own sports radio talk show. DiPaolo told his fans on Google+ (score one for Google’s new social network):
“hey, guys, sports radio talk show with artie is supposed to start sept 26th in selected mkts. So far, miami, s.f., philly, dallas, and a couple others…that’s as specific as we can get right now. We will let you know more when we do.”
DiPaolo and Lange previously paired up for one night this summer on Fox Sports Radio (photographed above by their agent, Tony Burton).
Lange also walked the red carpet for the series finale screening of FX’s Rescue Me. I caught up with Lange last week at the Cellar and he told me he’s enjoying being back in the mix.
UPDATED: I spoke to Lange again last night, and here is what he told me about his return to both comedy and radio.
“It feels great. It feels great. It’s either this or loading trucks for a living. This feels a lot better. And I’ve got some new stuff that seems to be working, I guess. I look forward to continuing whatever this is. Career is a strong word, but (laughs), working in comedy, I continue to look forward to continuing on.”
Watch his full statement. Roll it!
Congrats and welcome back!
UPDATED! It now looks as though “The Nick & Artie Show” will debut on Oct. 3, 2011, in a deal put together by DirecTV, with syndication on terrestrial radio and future broadcasts on satellite TV.
WE love YOU Artie….Welcome back Baby Gorilla!!!!
