The cable giant announced Tuesday it had ordered The Righteous Gemstones to series.
With his writing/directing/producing partners Jody Hill and David Gordon Green, they’ve previously released critically-acclaimed bonkers comedies Eastbound & Down and Vice Principals for HBO.
In The Righteous Gemstones, McBride will play eldest son to John Goodman’s patriarch Eli Gemstone in a half-hour comedy about a famous televangelist family. And all the craziness that happens behind the cameras. The Gemstone family also will include Edi Patterson, Adam Devine, Cassidy Freeman and Tim Baltz.
