Jay Leno is the Richard Nixon of comedy

Jay Leno struck this pose Sunday night while accepting the 2014 Mark Twain Prize for American Humor at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

In doing so, Leno evoked the classic imagery of former President Richard M. Nixon, flashing the double V-for-Victory peace signs and declaring “I am not a crook.”

Joke pose or not, considering Leno’s own career ambitions and how he coveted a prestigious post so much that it tainted his reputation, will he go down in history as the Richard Nixon of comedy?

Discuss.
