Hurricane Odile cancels 2014 Cabo Comedy Festival; NUVOtv and Levity organize relief benefit show Oct. 1 in California

The second annual Cabo Comedy Festival was supposed to start tonight at the southern tip of Baja Mexico, but Hurricane Odile had other ideas, devastating Cabo San Lucas and Los Cabos as it passed through last month.

So the festival was cancelled. Or postponed, if you prefer to think of it that way.

NUVOtv, which planned to film the fourth season of its Stand Up & Deliver stand-up showcase series in Cabo during the festival, is teaming up with Levity Entertainment Group for a special Stand Up & Deliver: Cabo Relief benefit comedy show tonight at the Irvine Improv.

Participating comedians include Billy GardellAisha Tyler and Pablo Francisco, plus a remote concert from Cabo resident Sammy Hagar via Sammy’s Island Bar & Grill in Roseville, Calif. Also on the bill: Alonzo Bodden, Rob Schneider and Maz Jobrani.

“When we first heard of the devastation in Cabo we knew we had to call on our comedian friends to help raise funds and awareness for the cause,” said Lynnette Ramirez, SVP of Programming for NUVOtv.

Take a look.

Tickets for tonight’s benefit cost $20-$35, via All proceeds go to the International Community Foundation’s disaster relief fund. Donations can also be made via credit card, check or wire transfer directly to the foundation at
