May 3, 2014: Eugene Mirman Day in Boston, by official proclamation of Mayor Marty Walsh

You know there’s a new mayor in Boston because today is officially Eugene Mirman Day.

Also, because Boston Mayor Martin (Marty) Walsh messed around with Mirman in this official City of Boston YouTube video to mark the occasion.

Roll it.

Here’s the proclamation that Mirman was holding, signed by Hizzoner.

It commemorates the Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival, which started its second Boston edition on Thursday and continues with two shows tonight and another on Sunday at the Berklee Performance Center.

You can try to imagine this ever happening under former Mayor Thomas Menino, who ruled Boston with a lovably mumbled mouth for the previous two decades. You could try. But there’s a new mayor in town now. Congrats, Eugene!
