Preview clips and quips from the Comedy Central Roast of James Franco

The Comedy Central Roast of James Franco airs on Labor Day — Monday, Sept. 2, 2013 — but since it taped this past Sunday night, we’ve already got preview clips and quips to share.

Seth Rogen served as Roastmaster of ceremonies.

But first, here’s Sarah Silverman putting Jonah Hill in his place with a joke or two about his fluctuating weight, and how that’s affecting his comedy and his acting careers.

And here is Nick Kroll addressing Andy Samberg, the better, younger-looking version of Kroll? Not here to replace him, though.

Other jokes good enough to bounce around online already include…

Seth Rogen: “Judd Apatow was going to direct this roast, but Comedy Central didn’t want it to be 40 minutes too long.”

Nick Kroll: “James Franco is truly our generation’s James Dean. So handsome that you forget he’s only been in two good movies. Dean, of course, died at the tender age of 24 sparing himself the embarrassment of writing self-indulgent short stories and getting roasted by a bunch of jealous Jew monsters.”

Jonah Hill, right back at Silverman: “Everyone’s like, ‘She’s hot for a comic.’ I don’t agree. She’s not just hot for a comic. She’s hot for someone her age.”

Natasha Leggero: “James Franco: Acting, teaching, directing, writing, producing, photography, soundtracks, editing — is there anything you can do?”

Aziz Ansari: “I’ve been up here longer than I was in This Is The End. The funniest part of This Is The End to me is that if James Franco actually had that party I don’t think I would have been invited.”

Jeff Ross: “When Jonah’s agent told him that Quentin Tarantino wanted him to be in a spaghetti western, Jonah was like, ‘You had me at spaghetti.’”

And from James Franco: “You say I sucked at the Oscars. I was a genius at the Oscars. That was experimental tuxedo sleep art. “

Jonah Hill says what we’re all thinking about Bill Hader’s post-SNL career this summer:

Jeffrey Ross made his hair look like “Riff Raff” from James Franco’s movie earlier this year, Spring Breakers, but he’s got jokes about one of Seth Rogen’s movies. Call the mall cops on this one.

Ansari wonders, why all the gay jokes?!

Kroll wonders if Franco had sex with Anne Hathaway when they co-hosted the Oscars. Also, what’s with all the squinting?

The Comedy Central Roast of James Franco premieres on Labor Day.
