As we start to learn the names of those stand-up comedians picked for Comedy Central’s Live At Gotham tapings next month, we see a fairly definite pattern emerging from the early picks. To make it to Gotham, it seems, one must first have survived the battles of 2007’s Comedy Central Open Mic Fights.
That’s certainly one thread that ties these comics together: Nate Bargatze, Hannibal Buress, Erin Judge, Myq Kaplan, Shane Mauss, Rob O’Reilly, Baron Vaughn and Mike Vecchione.
The three other names I’ve heard confirmed — Owen Benjamin, Joe List and Matt McCarthy — all did one of the major festivals in 2007 (Benjamin at Aspen, List in Las Vegas, McCarthy in Montreal).
So that’s 11 comics. Who are the others? If you know, fill us in!
CORRECTED/UPDATED: One of the comedians previously listed above emailed me to say he hadn’t gotten confirmation from Comedy Central, so please continue to let me know what you know. Thanks.
UPDATED 3/6/2008! I’ve posted the full lineups for this season! Click here for Live at Gotham 2008.
yo yo seany!
A few more names. I assume the top 3 winners of the open mic fight are doing it. Mo Mandel who was the winner MUST be. I know Raj Desai is for a fact. Na’im Lynn was also in the top 3. Michael Palascak who was also in the open mic fight finals is doing Gotham. He’s a Chicago based comedian and was the winner of Lucky 21 in Vegas. Also confirmed is Liz Miele.
I’m on it this season too. I was a finalist in “Open mic Fight 2007”
I saw that Erin Jackson is doing it too.
ADAM DEVINE FROM LOS ANGELES IS PERFORMING SUNDAY MARCH 9TH. I SAW THIS KID AT THE HOLLYWOOD IMPROV, HILLARIOUS!!! ONE TO WATCH
that devine from california made it to the montrial comedy festival last year and rock’d it!!!!!
My friends Matt Braunger and Jared Logan will also be performing this season. Along with Hannibal and Mike Palascak for four Chicago comics this year. I think T J Miller may also be on it, for a total of 5, but I’m not positive on that last one. Go Chicago!
