Dan Tiernan: “Going Under” at Edinburgh Fringe 2023

**** (out of 5)

Dan Tiernan runs on two speeds: Calm and friendly, or intensely loud and in your face. But he’s no second coming of the late Sam Kinison. Oh, no. This 27-year-old Brit is gay and dyspraxic. And if you’ve never heard the term dyspraxic before, well, get ready to hear it so many times in this hour. It’s a coordination disorder, if you really must know. To understand and appreciate Tiernan, though, you really must know that his comedy unfolds with plenty of slow reveals. He has won some British comedy awards already in recent years, so he must be happy to leave behind dinner lady gigs. If you look deep into his eyes, if you can, that is, perhaps you’ll see that his future is bright. Brighter than baked beans, even!

Dan Tiernan: Going Under runs through Aug. 27 at Monkey Barrel 2
