Huge Davies: Whodunnit at Edinburgh Fringe 2023

*** (out of 5)

A former Best Newcomer at the Fringe in 2019, Huge Davies returns to Edinburgh with his second show, wearing his keyboard and deadpanning about murder. “If this were a funeral, I’d be killing it,” he quips. But it’s a bit more than that, more or less. If you’ve never been to a Nando’s, he’ll clue you in. If you’re a fan of Phil Wang, then you’ve likely seen Davies before. If you’ve never been to a Huge Davies show, though, then you probably were in the audience with me, because the vibe was so off that even Davies couldn’t stop stopping to address it.

Davies does construct and ultimately solve his own who-done-it murder mystery eventually. Sort of. It felt like the kind of show that when he says he submitted a title to the Fringe before writing it, he wasn’t joking.

Huge Davies: Whodunnit runs through Aug. 27 at Pleasance Courtyard Upstairs
