Review: Mike Birbiglia, “The New One” on Netflix

Mike Birbiglia’s 2019 Netflix special enjoyed a successful run on Broadway first, with an epic showstopper moment.

But as I wrote last year:

Birbiglia has created a show designed to stop you in your tracks multiple times to take stock of your own love life and your own priorities. He’s brutally honest about how unfit he felt for parenthood, the lengths he’d go to become one anyhow for the sake of his wife, and how their relationship changes after childbirth no matter how much they promised each other it wouldn’t.

And he makes the whole thing as funny as it is poignant.
