D.L. Hughley Passes Out Onstage at Zanies Nashville, Tests Positive at Hospital for COVID-19

Our hearts go out to not only comedian DL. Hughley, but also the staff at Zanies Nashville and the audience in attendance Friday night.

Hughley, 57, was performing at Zanies on Friday night when he passed out in the middle of his set. Hughley’s “manager and security guard” had just given him a bottle of water onstage, but returned about 40 seconds later, rushing onstage to catch Hughley. But the comedian still fell off his stool onto the floor. He was taken to Ascension Saint Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, where his publicist said he was being treated for exhaustion.

But Hughley revealed late Saturday night that tests taken at the hospital revealed he also has COVID-19, the novel coronavirus that has infected millions worldwide and killed more than 110,000 Americans since March. Hughley claims he’s asymptomatic, as he hasn’t yet experienced any of the many various symptoms other people have claimed. “So, in addition to all the other stuff you have to look out for, if your ass pass out in the middle of a show, onstage, you probably need to get tested.”

Zanies is one of several comedy clubs that have reopened over the past few weeks, most of the clubs in states in the South or Mountain West. We’ll stay on this story to see how it develops.
