by A new Discovery channel special, Small Town Throwdown, premieres tonight, sending stand-up comedian Mo Mandel to Appleton, Wisc., and Lubbock, Texas, to see if they really live up to their self-described titles.
Is Coalinga, Calif., the smelliest town in America? Is Lubbock the “Most Boring” American town? Appleton the drunkest?
“A lot of the time, the writers that are trashing these towns have never even bothered to pay them a visit. So I’m showing up, and giving the towns a chance to show how unique and awesome they really are. I’m ready to roll up my sleeves, and help every community get the credit it deserves,” Mandel said.
So Mandel, born and raised in small-town Boonville, Calif., is giving each of these town his personal review.
The special premieres at 10 p.m. Eastern/Pacific tonight on Discovery.
