Quibi plans daily dose of topical stand-up with “Hot Off The Mic” series

If you like what Comedy Central’s This Week at The Comedy Cellar has to offer on late-night Fridays, then Quibi hopes you’ll love even more stand-up, delivered to your phone on a daily basis.

Quibi, which hasn’t yet launched but has a bunch of money funneling into a bunch of content, all exclusively for mobile devices, announced Hot Off The Mic.

Released five days a week from Levity Live, Hot Off The Mic will showcase stand-ups new and old with their takes on the week’s news. It’ll tape live from various comedy clubs, starting at the Hollywood Improv.

“Levity Live is thrilled to be debuting Hot Off the Mic as part of Quibi’s ‘Daily Essentials’ lineup, bringing subscribers the funniest commentary on today’s headlines, delivered by some of the most original voices in comedy today, all from the Improv stage,” said Levity Live’s Johnny Milord, an executive producer on the series. Other EPs: Stu Schreiberg, John Bravakis, Johnny Milord, Dicky Eagan

Levity Live has produced over 400 long-form stand-up specials and series and owns-and-operates premium live comedy clubs, including the iconic Improv brand.

Quibi launches on April 6, 2020.
