Donald Glover’s Atlanta will return for seasons 3-4 on FX

Your eyes have not deceived you. Season three of Atlanta has not returned to FX in 2019 like the cable TV network told you it would.

But fear not! At the summer TCAs, the FX brass announced they’d reached a deal with Atlanta creator Donald Glover to produce a fourth season of his award-winning series, in addition to season three — but you’ll have to wait until spring 2020 for production to begin on either.

Season two left off with Earn (Glover) jetting off on a European tour with his cousin Alfred, “Paper Boi,” (Brian Tyree Henry) whose burgeoning rap career he’s somehow still managing. Along for the ride, as always, is Darius (Lakeith Stanfield), while Earn’s on-again, off-again love Van (Zazie Beetz) remains in Atlanta with their young daughter.

Atlanta is executive produced by Glover, Paul Simms, Dianne McGunigle, Stephen Glover and Hiro Murai.

“What more can be said about Atlanta than the critical acclaim and accolades that Donald, Paul, Dianne, Stephen and Hiro have earned for two exceptional seasons of what is clearly one of the best shows on television,” said Eric Schrier, President, FX Entertainment. “This group of collaborators and cast have created one of the most original, innovative stories of this generation and we are proud to be their partners.”

Through its first two seasons, Atlanta has won five Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, two AFI awards, plus the Peabody, as well as PGA, WGA, TCA, NAACP and Critics’ Choice Awards.
