Amy Schumer signs first-look deal with Hulu, stars in sitcom “Love, Beth” in 2020

Here’s the inside news on Amy Schumer’s return to TV: It’s happening on Hulu, not on Comedy Central.

Hulu announced today at the TV Critics Association (TCA) summer press tour that it’s signed a first-look deal with Schumer that includes her next starring vehicle, a 10-episode sitcom: Love, Beth.

Schumer will star, direct, write and executive produce Love, Beth. She’s working with her longest of long-time collaborators, Kevin Kane and Kim Caramele (Schumer’s sister), via Endeavor Content.

She’s nominated for an Emmy this year for writing for her Netflix stand-up special, Growing. She previously has won an Emmy and a Peabody Award for her sketch comedy series, Inside Amy Schumer, which aired for four seasons from 2013-2016. As Jason Zinoman noted in a parenthetical when he interviewed Schumer this spring for The New York Times: “She is still under contract for another season of the show but hasn’t wanted to shoot it until recently.” No new word as of yet on that front.

In the meantime, expect Love, Beth to hit Hulu sometime in 2020.
