San Diego Padres home games now feature “Anchorman” races

In Milwaukee, the Major League Baseball Brewers have held a “Sausage Race” at home games since the 1990s, allowing fans to root on their favorite human in a giant wiener costume — actually, five different humans in five different tube meat styles: Brat, Polish, Italian, Hot Dog, and Chorizo.

Starting on Opening Day, the Padres of San Diego have instituted their own human mascot race. But here, at Petco Park, it’s all about the movie Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. You can root for Ron Burgundy, Champ Kind, Brian Fantana or Brick Tamland at each Padres home game.

Stay classy, San Diego!
