If trying to catch up on 800+ episodes of Marc Maron’s WTF podcast seems like too much of a hill to climb, or you just want to fast-forward to the best parts and look at them whenever you want, then you’re in luck.
Maron announced he’s excerpting dialogues with the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Kevin Hart, Patton Oswalt, Lena Dunham, Leslie Jones, Louis CK, Lorne Michaels and former President Barack Obama into a new book, “Waiting for the Punch: Words to Live By from the WTF Podcast.”
As he wrote on Monday: “It’s great. I had no idea about some of the amazing things people told me until I saw them in print. This isn’t just a collection of interviews. It’s a running narrative of about 200 people working through all the messiness that is life. It’s big, it’s funny, it’s heartbreaking, it’s really something special. We are so proud of it. Get it here!” The official line on the book adds: “Waiting for the Punch is not simply a collection of these interviews, but instead something more wondrous: a running narrative of the world’s most recognizable names working through the problems, doubts, joys, triumphs and failures we all experience. With each chapter covering a different topic: parenting, childhood, relationships, sexuality, success, failures and others, Punch becomes a sort of everyman’s guide to life. Barack Obama candidly discusses the challenges of the presidency, and the bittersweet moments of seeing your children grow up and away from you. Bruce Springsteen speaks on the dual nature of desperation to both motivate and devastate. Amy Schumer recounts the pain of a parents’ divorce.”
The book is out Oct. 10, 2017, but available already for pre-order here:
