NBC orders “Sunnyside” sitcom with Kal Penn and co-starring comedians Joel Kim Booster and Moses Storm

Congrats to my neighbors in Queens!?

NBC has ordered the sitcom Sunnyside to series for the upcoming Fall 2019 schedule.

The sitcom stars Kal Penn as a young New York City Councilman from the Queens neighborhood of Sunnyside whose career crashes and burns, and then gets rescued, sort of, by a group of younger immigrants.

His co-stars include stand-up comedians Joel Kim Booster and Moses Storm, plus Diana Maria Riva, Kiran Deol, Poppy Liu, and Samba Schutte.

Sunnyside comes from Michael Schur (and casting by Allison Jones), for whom we currently have Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Good Place on NBC.
