NBC gives Late Night with Seth Meyers a primetime slot for New Year’s Eve to close out 2016

In a major vote of confidence, NBC is inviting you to take a closer look at Seth Meyers on New Year’s Eve.

No, not Meyers’s role in the film, New Year’s Eve, but a special primetime Saturday edition of his Late Night talker.

The Late Night with Seth Meyers New Year’s Eve Special will air Saturday, Dec. 31 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. The hour features special appearances by Jennifer Lawrence, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Leslie Jones, a performance by multiple Grammy-winning superstar Kelly Clarkson of “It’s Quiet Uptown” from “The Hamilton Mixtape,” and more.

Presumably, that more will include Meyers taking “A Closer Look” at 2016. That segment has become his signature weeknights this year in the first half-hour as he devotes several minutes diving deep into a topic ripped from the headlines.

Just take a look at his previous installments of A Closer Look.
