“A dream come true. Thank you Comedy Central.” That’s Veep‘s Sam Richardson today, as Comedy Central announced it had ordered 10 episodes of Detroiters, a series he co-created with his former Second City cohort and fellow Detroit native Tim Robinson.
Robinson, a former SNL cast member and writer, will star in Detroiters with Richards as “two small-time Detroit ad men who aspire to help turn their hometown back into the glittering jewel of the Midwest that it once was.”
The duo co-wrote the pilot, and executive produce along with Joe Kelly and Zach Kanin. Former SNL star Jason Sudeikis will recur in a supporting role as an auto executive in Detroit that the duo constantly try to impress and woo.
“The creative team on Detroiters is so ridiculously funny, we’re not even sure we deserve them,” said Comedy Central’s Kent Alterman.
Detroiters comes from Broadway Video, Lorne Michaels’ studio.
