You don’t normally see method acting continue after production wraps on a movie.
But then again, you haven’t seen a promotional effort quite as extensive as the one we’re currently seeing for Anchorman 2. It’s still more than two weeks before the film sequel has Will Ferrell and friends reviving their retro news team for the big screen, and yet Ferrell’s “Ron Burgundy” already has popped up in an ad campaign for Dodge and multiple benefits and contests. Over the weekend, Ferrell upped the ante by actually anchoring a local TV newscast for the entire half-hour as Ron Burgundy.
In North Dakota. Across Bismarck, Minot, Williston and Dickinson on KXNet.
Here’s the complete newscast with “Ron Burgundy,” Amber Schatz and the rest of the KX news team following Saturday night’s Auburn-Alabama game.
Everybody played it straight. Because that’s the way it was, Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013.
Roll it!
On Sunday night, Schatz followed up by saying this on the local newscast:
“It’s been a wild ride having gotten the chance to anchor with Ron Burgundy. A lot of people have been asking us about the experience, but to sum it up in a couple of words– it’s been compelling and rich. It was such a treat to get to have him here at KX News and to learn from him.”
