Jay Pharoah flips Kanye West’s “I Am A God” into “I Am A Dog” for this Above Average music video

In Kanye West’s world, he growls “I Am A God.”

In our comedy world, that script is flipped, and Saturday Night Live‘s Jay Pharoah impersonates Yeezus with a dash of Wilfred in this music video parody, “I Am A Dog.” The video is from Above Average, the webseries production shingle headed by SNL’s Lorne Michaels. So it all comes full woof for your woofers. For those of you wondering why this couldn’t wait for an appearance on TV and SNL itself, the season premiere is still five weeks away. Do you know how long five weeks is in Internet social media time? It’s a Google amount of time. Bing bing bing bing. Winner winner, Beggin Strips for dinner.

Roll the clip!

Besides, putting this video out now accomplishes so much more. It capitalizes on the zeitgeist of Kanye now, helps promote Above Average, and can be repeated on-air if/when there’s a couple of minutes to spare on an SNL this fall. No worries.
