First look at Arsenio Hall and his late-night TV comeback in 2013

Arsenio Hall and The Arsenio Hall Show are returning to a TV channel near you in 2013 — specifically Sept. 9, 2013.

Even more specifically, as previously reported, CBS TV Distribution and Tribune Broadcasting have syndicated the late-night talker in most of America, including WPIX in New York City, KTLA in Los Angeles and WGN in Chicago. Other markets already cleared for a launch in fall 2013 include Boston, San Francisco, Atlanta, Detroit, Tampa, Pittsburgh, Denver, Cleveland, St. Louis, Milwaukee, Kansas City, Mo., Greensboro, N.C., and Norfolk, Va.

Today we see our first promotional spot for it, as some of you out there may be too young to remember the familiar “WOOF!” from Arsenio’s Dog Pound, a part of his late-night talk show audience that became a regular nightly feature of the show from 1989 to 1994.

He picked a fine time to drop this spot, it being the end of the world as people who interpret an old calendar know it. Roll it.

In a second video, we go behind the scenes of that promo shoot above, and learn that:

  • Arsenio is “very excited” to be coming back to late-night TV.
  • He doesn’t like having big feet.
  • He’s also worried what people back in Cleveland will think about him powdering his face.

Wait. He doesn’t like having big feet? That’s a new one.
