Comedy headlines for 11/27/12

What’s happening in the comedy world now…

  • FX has renewed Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell for a new, full 13-episode “second” season in 2013, as well as 13 episodes of an extended hour-long version of BrandX with Russell Brand. Both series are in their second of two short inaugural seasons this fall. Totally Biased will return Jan. 17, 2013; BrandX will return Feb. 7, 2013.
  • Wyatt Cenac will leave The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, where he had been a correspondent and writer since 2008, at the end of 2012.
  • Disney Channel has signed Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel to reprise their roles from ABC’s 1990s sitcom Boy Meets World for Disney’s potential sequel series Girl Meets World.
  • Angus T. Jones, the teen-aged actor who is the third member of CBS long-running sitcom hit, Two and a Half Men, recently encouraged viewers in a religious YouTube video to stop watching his sitcom. The sitcom that pays him $350,000 per episode.
  • Andrew WK was going to visit Bahrain as a cultural ambassador, until everyone realized that might actually happen, so now it’s not going to happen. At least not officially.
