Friars Club reschedules Roast of Quentin Tarantino

The Friars Club has picked Dec. 1 as its new date to roast director Quentin Tarantino.

Samuel L. Jackson will serve as Roastmaster, with other celebrity attendees, roasters and dais guests to be confirmed later. The Roast had been planned for Oct. 1, but was postponed due to the tragic death of Sally Menke — Tarantino's editor — on Sept. 27. The Friars Foundation will name a special scholarship to honor Menke's memory, which will fund students studying the performing arts.

Quotes from the press release:

Friars Club Executive Director Michael Gyure said: “With Quentin’s enthusiasm, this Roast is destined to be one of the most exciting and outrageous ever.”

Tarantino said: “I’m not coming to get my ass kicked, I’m coming to kick ass!”

Samuel L. Jackson added: "I'm excited Quentin asked me to be the Roastmaster at his Friars Club Roast. Having known Quentin as long as I have now, there are many stories I've kept tucked away for a moment like this. I'm not so sure he won't regret asking me once the afternoon is over!"
