Frontier Comedy hosts Hollywood showcase to find talent to tour Down Under in Australia, New Zealand

Each year, a handful of comedians make the long trek from North America to Australia to perform at the major comedy festivals in Melbourne and Sydney. A few comedians even have found greater success Down Under than they have in the States.

Now Frontier Comedy, the merged product of Australian talent agency More Comedy and concert promoters Frontier Touring, is coming to Hollywood to find new stand-up comedians to bring back with them to Australia and New Zealand, and market them as comedy commodities who can come back time and time again.

They’ve got Eric Andre making his first solo tour of Australia this December.

And in a first, Frontier Comedy will host a showcase tonight at the Hollywood Improv, hosted by young Australian comedian Amos Gill and featuring a guest spot by Jim Jefferies, the company’s biggest selling comedy act and star of several stand-up specials plus the cult FX-TV series, Legit. Fourteen up-and-coming comedians submitted by Los Angeles agents and managers will showcase their talents — from them, two to four stand-ups will get picked for a package tour of Australia in 2017, with plans to bring them back again on individual tours in 2018 and beyond.

Here’s the scheduled lineup for tonight’s Frontier Comedy showcase at the Improv:

  • Amos Gill
  • Ahmed Bharoocha
  • Nik Dodani
  • Helen Hong
  • Matthew Broussard
  • Dustin YBarra
  • Erica Rhodes
  • Megan Gailey
  • David Gborie
  • Dan Telfer
  • Al Jackson
  • Ever Mainard
