Sam Lake: “Aspiring DILF” at Edinburgh Fringe 2023

**** (out of 5)

There’s a big difference between Dad energy and Daddy energy, and Sam Lake is only looking for the latter. This isn’t Lake’s Edinburgh Fringe debut, as he was here last year. And yet this hour still has all the feels of a coming-out party of sorts for the comedian, who informs us that he has married a Scotsman, moved to Edinburgh and left his job fully behind for a life and career in comedy. He still remembers what it was like working in offices, though, particularly missing the office gossip and that one woman who knew just the right horniest words to tease you with at your cubicle. Lake’s confident enough to more than tease us with revelations about his earliest awkward sexual encounters. Now it’s time to find out what’s next.

Sam Lake: Aspiring DILF runs through Aug. 27 at Monkey Barrel 2
