Phoebe Robinson to host Year-End 2020 Comedy Special for Amazon Prime Video, ‘Yearly Departed’

Amazon Prime Video has ordered a year in review comedy special to be hosted by Phoebe Robinson, executive produced by The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star Rachel Brosnahan, and written by Bess Kalb.

Yearly Departed will premiere this winter.

“I’m ready to put 2020 on fire like I’m barbecuing at a Black family reunion,” Robinson said. “All kidding aside, the world is beyond stressful and confusing, so I’m honored to help take everyone’s minds off the heaviness with some much-needed comedy while wearing a fresh wig.”

Robinson herself has had quite a 2020, launching a book imprint under her Tiny Reparations production company, a new podcast (Black Frasier), in addition to the talk show she already has in the works for Comedy Central, Doing the Most w/Phoebe Robinson, due to premiere sometime next year.

Comedy Central used to produce year-end specials in the mid-2000s, called Last Laugh, and has more recently shifted that over to Trevor Noah’s Daily Show for The Yearly Show specials.
