For the first week of “Judge Cuts” on the 2020 season of America’s Got Talent, the contestants performed separately from the show’s four judges due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
That meant that most of them also could do something unusual this year, pre-taping their callback performances and turning them into bigger productions than they otherwise would’ve been just onstage with no audience. Ty Barnett got his own audience for his stand-up performance, performing in the driveway, and making jokes about his kids, after first getting sincere with the judges about his feelings for his family.
The judges (Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel and Sofia Vergara) saw 10 acts perform this week and could only pick five to advance to the “live” shows. Did Barnett make it? Alas, he did not. But he was pretty great all the same.
Roll it!
