The CW Broadcasting Stand-Up Comedy Specials Tuesday Nights for Summer 2020 “Happy Hour”

The CW is showcasing stand-up comedy on Tuesday nights this summer, starting tonight, in a new “Happy Hour” series in conjunction with Comedy Dynamics. The specials will air from 9-10 p.m. Eastern/Pacific, then be available to stream online the following day on The CW.

Jim Gaffigan kicks off the seven-week series tonight with his Noble Ape special. Following weeks will see the broadcast premieres of past specials from Louie Anderson, Barry Brewer, Bryan Callen, Marina Franklin, Tom Papa and Alice Wetterlund. All of the specials come from Comedy Dynamics, executive produced by Brian Volk-Weiss and Cisco Henson, and originally released in 2019, with the exception of Papa’s 2013 special, Freaked Out.

Tuesday, June 9 (9-10pm ET/PT): JIM GAFFIGAN: NOBLE APE

Comedy powerhouse Jim Gaffigan has made a career out of finding the extraordinary in the ordinary with his hilarious yet biting observational style. Tuesday, June 16 (9-10pm ET/PT): MARINA FRANKLIN: SINGLE BLACK FEMALE

Marina Franklin returns to her Chicago roots to celebrate and unpack what it means to be ‘woke’ in these confusing and tumultuous times. Franklin offers us a hilarious yet honest glimpse into the challenges of navigating America’s complex blah blah blah… oh yeah, and dating. MARINA FRANKLIN: SINGLE BLACK FEMALE is directed by Brian Volk-Weiss.

Tuesday, June 23 (9-10pm ET/PT): LOUIE ANDERSON: BIG UNDERWEAR

Named by Comedy Central as one of 100 Greatest Stand-Up Comedians of All Time, iconic comedian Louie Anderson, a three-time Emmy Award(R) winner, and one of the country’s most recognized and adored comics, brings you his sixth comedy special, “Big Underwear.” LOUIE ANDERSON: BIG UNDERWEAR is directed by Brian Volk-Weiss.

Tuesday, June 30 (9-10pm ET/PT): BRYAN CALLEN: COMPLICATED APES

Bryan Callen records his third special in Chicago’s historic Thalia Hall and reconsiders our debate on all-things equality. He rails against our tendencies to turn each other into nouns, and instead suggests that the best way to navigate our current culture war is to think of our fellow humans, not as a fixed label, but as verbs. BRYAN CALLEN: COMPLICATED APES is directed by Brian Volk-Weiss.

Tuesday, July 7 (9-10pm ET/PT): BARRY BREWER: CHICAGO I’M HOME

Taped in front of two sold out crowds at the Studebaker Theater in his hometown of Chicago, this stand-up comedy special is the culmination of Brewer’s real-life experiences interwoven with over fifteen years as a stand-up comic. BARRY BREWER: CHICAGO I’M HOME is directed by Barry Brewer. The special is executive produced by Brian Volk-Weiss, Barry Brewer and Jasmine Monet Brewer.

Tuesday, July 14 (9-10pm ET/PT): ALICE WETTERLUND: MY MAMA IS A HUMAN AND SO AM I

Follow comedian/actor Alice Wetterlund as she reveals her personal struggles with peeping toms, cat-rearing, alcoholism and the secret alien conspiracy behind new country music in her breakout comedy special, “My Mama Is A Human and So Am I.” Wetterlund shines in this tour de force hour long special taped at the Gothic Theater in Denver, CO. Tuesday, July 21 (9-10pm ET/PT): TOM PAPA: FREAKED OUT

Comedian Tom Papa returns to Cleveland, Ohio at his fast-paced comedic best while relating the everyman struggles of family life, falling behind to the super rich and his hilarious cure for angry young men. TOM PAPA: FREAKED OUT is directed by Jay Chapman.
