Kumail Nanjiani, Emily V. Gordon, Jordan Peele and Greta Gerwig now and forever known as Academy Award nominees

What a huge day for comedians and comedy fans.

Please welcome Academy Award nominees Kumail Nanjiani and Emily V. Gordon, for writing a screenplay based on how they met and fell in love, in The Big Sick; Jordan Peele, for writing and directing one of 2017’s best movies and commentaries on race in America, in Get Out; and Greta Gerwig, for writing and directing one of the year’s most charming pictures, in Lady Bird.

The Oscars will be handed out live March 4, 2018, on ABC, with Jimmy Kimmel hosting.

You can find all of this year’s Oscar nominees here. No nomination for Tiffany Haddish in Girls Trip, but she did get to announce the noms this morning, and her career is kicking now. Also no recognition for Holly Hunter or Ray Romano in The Big Sick, but we’ll hug them if we see them. And no honors for James Franco in The Disaster Artist, which is just fine by me because The Room is terrible and he’s slightly so, and we shouldn’t be celebrating it.
