Kristen Wiig will star in a sitcom for Apple TV

Apple’s launch into original TV/streaming programming continues, with the announcement late last week that Kristen Wiig will star in a half-hour sitcom for them, executive produced by Reese Witherspoon and her production shingle.

Wiig starred for seven seasons on Saturday Night Live and earned four Emmy nominations during that time.

She also received an Academy Award nomination for co-writing her 2011 hit movie, Bridesmaids.

Her Apple series, created and show-run by Colleen McGuinness, is based on Curtis Sittenfeld’s short story collection You Think It, I’ll Say It. No timetable was announced for its release.
