The hit comedy podcast 2 DOPE QUEENS, starring Jessica Williams and Phoebe Robinson, is coming to HBO in 2018 with four hour-long specials.
Casey Bloys, president of HBO Programming said: “Jessica Williams and Phoebe Robinson prove you can be hilarious and socially conscious at the same time. We’re looking forward to bringing these very funny, talented women and their unique points of view to the HBO audience.”
2 Dope Queens launched their podcast in 2016 via WNYC, offering weekly stand-up showcases and storytelling hosted by Williams (star of new movie, The Incredible Jessica James, and former correspondent on The Daily Show) and Robinson (Broad City, I Love Dick, and the bestselling book, “You Can’t Touch My Hair (And Other Things I Still Have to Explain).”). It quickly rose to the top of the podcast charts.
They’ve gone to major comedy festivals across America, met Bono backstage with U2, and will headline this November’s New York Comedy Festival. And now, HBO.
Robinson: “2 Dope Queens and HBO going half on a TV baby? A dream come true! The work wife and I are beyond thrilled that the formula we’ve perfected over the past four seasons of doing the podcast (Ignorance x Cocoa Butter + Comedic Honesty) is being brought to this network.”
Williams added: “We are so stoked to be partnering with HBO for these specials. Excited to add a couple more Khaleesis to the network!”
Jessica Williams, Phoebe Robinson and Chenoa Estrada will executive produce.
