Comedy Central orders 10 weeks of Jim Jefferies in late night

Comedy Central has filled part of the whole in its late-night talk-show programming with a new weekly talker by Australian comedian Jim Jefferies.

The show, as of yet untitled, will run for at least 10 weeks starting this summer.

Jefferies starred in the semi-autobiographical sitcom, Legit, which ran for two seasons on FX. He’s found several of his stand-up bits go viral and become memes from his two most recent stand-up specials on Netflix, too.

“I’d like to thank Comedy Central for this incredible opportunity,” said Jefferies. “It’s always been a dream of mine to do a show in this arena and I can’t wait for everyone to see what we’ve got planned.”

“Jim has a huge comedic voice on the global stage,” said Comedy Central President Kent Alterman. “During development, we also learned his talent is only surpassed by his incredible work ethic.”

Jefferies will executive produce his half-hour talker alongside Scott Zabielski, and Brillstein Entertainment Partners’ Alex Murray and Tim Sarkes. Jason Reich (The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee) is co-executive producer and head writer.

Jefferies also shows up regularly on Comedy Central’s @midnight and will appear this spring on Comedy Central performing on an episode of The Comedy Jam.
