Netflix nabs Seinfeld for new stand-up special plus new seasons of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee

Netflix has new stand-up specials already this month from Jen Kirkman, Jim Gaffigan, Neal Brennan, Cristela Alonzo and Bill Burr, with specials forthcoming in 2017 from Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, Amy Schumer and Louis C.K., who taped his over the weekend in D.C. So why not Jerry Seinfeld, too!?! Netflix announced a deal late today that not includes two new stand-up specials from Seinfeld, but also poached his award-winning webseries away from Crackle. Comedy Dynamics spun off from New Wave Entertainment and into new Nacelle Company

In recent years, New Wave Entertainment has shifted its focus, expanding and begetting new divisions. A production arm called New Wave Dynamics has since redefined itself as Comedy Dynamics, and today, NWE announced it had spun off Comedy Dynamics as part of another company entirely: Nacelle Company. Before IFC’s Portlandia, and before NBC’s Saturday Night Live, Fred Armisen showed up on your TV screens in unusual ways and sometimes even without credit. Armisen performed a number of short videos for HBO in the late 1990s, for instance, that ran as interstitials between movies. He’d take one of his characters there, “Sgt.
