Review: Michael Ian Black, “Noted Expert” (EPIX)

Michael Ian Black opens his new stand-up special, Noted Expert (his third hour, and first for EPIX), by noting that you can tell it’s going to actually be special, then suggests kicking things off right with a montage of puppies licking his face. Almost on cue, things don’t go well. Almost as poorly as Ted Cruz showing human emotions. At least MIB is human. And has emotions. And always shows them. Upfronts Follow-Up: How did the rookie class of 2015 broadcast network sitcoms fare?

It’s Friday the 13th on your calendar, which marked a dark day for several network TV series awaiting their fates for renewal or cancellation. Matt Donaher on Conan

Matt Donaher is back on Conan, but this time, he and his girlfriend are going to have a baby. Pretty exciting! Narrowing down the name can be trying, too. But if you think he’s his worst critic, then you haven’t heard the heckles he receives from his therapist. Or from the voices in his head. Fortunately, his own voice has plenty of quips to counteract them. Roll the...
