TV Land is embracing single-cam sitcoms for 2015, ordering up two new comedies for next year that ditch the live studio audiences for fun in the field.
The new series, with 10 episodes each forthcoming, are Impastor and Teachers.
“Impastor and Teachers are perfect examples of the type of comedies we’re looking for as TV Land evolves its original series – innovative, unconventional, and hilariously funny for an audience that enjoys smart humor with a hint of heart,” said TV Land President Larry W. Jones.
More about each show:
Impastor — From Christopher Vane, starring Michael Rosenbaum, Sara Rue, Aimee Garcia, Mircea Monroe, Mike Kosinski, and David Rasche. Rosenbaum plays a gambler named Buddy Dobbs on the run from a loan shark, finding refuge under a stolen identity as a gay pastor in a small town. Executive produced by Vane and Rosenbaum, with Eric and Kim Tannenbaum.
Teachers — From Chicago-based improv group The Katydids – Caitlin Barlow, Katy Colloton, Cate Freedman, Kate Lambert, Katie O’Brien and Katie Thomas – who also wrote and starred in The Teachers webseries for Cap Gun TV and Above Average that the TV series is based on. About six elementary school teachers who have their issues, separately and collectively. Written and executive produced by The Katydids with Matt Miller, Alison Brie, and showrunners Ian Roberts and Jay Martel.
