Comedy Central renews “Nathan For You,” “Drunk History” for third seasons

Comedy Central President Kent Alterman heaped hyperboles of praise upon Nathan Fielder an hour ago as the “Breakout Comedy Performer of the Year” at Montreal’s Just For Laughs festival in a speech that Alterman claimed Fielder had written for him.

But the most important words Fielder heard from Alterman today were these: “I’m picking up Nathan For You for a third season. Right here. Right now.”

A press release issued minutes later confirmed that, plus a third-season pickup for Drunk History, which also is in the beginnings of its second season paired with Nathan For You on Tuesday nights. “Is there any comedy well deeper to draw from than history and business marketing?” asked Alterman in the accompanying release.

Alterman also reminded the crowd in Montreal today that Fielder’s “Dumb Starbucks” stunt will air this coming Tuesday.

Episodes this season of Drunk History (10 p.m. Eastern/Pacific Tuesdays) are ranking tops in original programming among men 18-34, and up 26 percent among adults 18-49. Nathan For You (10:30 p.m.) episodes following that also are up nearly 50 percent among adults 18-49 over the premiere season.

You can watch all of the previously aired episodes from both seasons of both shows online via cc.com and the Comedy Central App.

Comedy Central’s robust slate of returning programming in 2014-2015 also includes new seasons of Broad City, Kroll Show, Inside Amy Schumer, Review, TripTank and Key & Peele.
