Chris Hardwick has another late-night TV talk show coming to a TV or mobile viewing device near you next week, and he’s not talking dead, nor is he talking bad…
He’s talking about everything else in the news, at midnight, @midnight, on Comedy Central.
The show debuts Monday, Oct. 21, at midnight (Eastern/Pacific) after The Colbert Report, with new episodes airing Mondays-Thursdays. Hardwick will have a rotating panel of stand-up comedians, and he’ll decide each night who has the funniest take on that day’s newsmakers and headlines.
His first week’s guests will be:
MONDAY 10/21
• Doug Benson @DougBenson
• Natasha Leggero @natashaleggero
• Kumail Nanjiani @kumailn
TUESDAY 10/22
• Kurt Braunohler @kurtbraunohler
• Andy Daly @TVsAndyDaly
WEDNESDAY 10/23

• June Diane Raphael @MsJuneDiane
THURSDAY 10/24

If you’re in Los Angeles, you can grab free tickets to attend a taping of @midnight!
And roll the official promo clip:
It takes social media and pits comedians against one another in a fake game show. If you’re thinking of IFC’s Bunk as a previous fake game show, or even thinking about British panel shows, well, then, good on ya. There’s an audience component, too, because #hashtags.
This all also brought me back, #tbt, to another comedians battling to be the day’s funniest in a fake game show pilot Hardwick hosted three years ago for Comedy Central. That was called “Tonight’s Funniest,” and I had caught up with him during those tapings in 2010. Roll the rollback machine tape!
Oh, memories.
@midnight is executive produced by Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant; Hardwick; Mike Farah for Funny Or Die; Alex Blagg, Jason Nadler and Jon Zimelis of Serious Business; showrunner Jack Martin; and Alex Murray of Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
@midnight debuts at midnight, Oct. 21, 2013, on Comedy Central.
