Geoffrey Asmus is not afraid of being an offensive American comedian. As he jokes: “In America at least we elect our pedophiles.” Besides, he adds, shouldn’t the Brits be embarrassed by maintaining the monarchy? Or by not legalizing weed?
On the outside, Asmus exudes all the confidence of a toxic male comedian. Bragging that he’s going after” conservatives who are pussies and liberals who are retards.” But his onstage character isn’t quite like an Anthony Jeselnik. Asmus will stop repeatedly to remind us that he’s joking. He’ll remind us he’s a liberal from Minnesota who attended the University of Wisconsin. You may laugh because you think he’s a parody of the worst tropes of stand-up, or you may laugh at the outrageousness of his jokes. Either way, you’ll likely be laughing a lot.
