Sometimes a basement show feels like a basement show.
You need to be sitting up front to get up close and personal with character-based performance art like this. Immersion is critical to your enjoyment. Especially since so much of the hour relies about audience interaction. From the middle or back of the room, it all becomes too much like an improv poetry slam and less like you’re bearing witness to a burlesque superstar launching her scandalous memoir. But that’s what this show is. Some of Bryn Woz’s own sexcapades may have influenced these stories, but in the hands of Entendre Entendre, author of “Smut,” they become something else entirely. Poetry. A game of Never Have I Ever. Songs where she implores a former lover to “call me when you learn how to use that dick.”
