“Vacuum Girl” at Edinburgh Fringe 2025

⭐⭐⭐

it’s fun to imagine every pitch presentation going like this, but in a studio exec’s cramped office. Erica Bitton gives it her all to show us the day in the life chaos of a Brooklyn waitress with a dreamy side of stardom taking her and us to different eras and back again. The Fleabag influence is strong. So are the LED fixtures!

When the improvised prompts from the tech booth start throwing Bitton for loops, it all becomes a bit too chaotic for its own good. We’re transfixed by the performance. But somehow not sold on the pitch itself.

What is Vacuum Girl anyhow? Who is she supposed to be? At the end of this hour, I still have no idea.

Vacuum Girl plays Just The Tonic’s Mash House through Aug. 24, 2025.
