Max & Ivan: “Life, Choices” at Edinburgh Fringe 2023

**** (out of 5)

It’s safe for me to tell you that Max & Ivan’s previous show, Commitment, is now available on YouTube. As for everything else, well, which quadrant would I like to follow?

Max claims he’s active safe, while Ivan is passive risk. These opposites made for a great double act in 2008. But 15 years later? When Ivan is even less of a contributor now that he’s a dad? And ITV has cancelled their sitcom? Can they go on? Should they? They ask their dads for life advice and realize they’re both opposites, too; Max’s dad is passive safe, whereas Ivan’s dad could bes be classified as an active risk. And so we’re ultimately treated to a multimedia retrospective of their life choices, how they got here, and where they ultimately must go from here.

Max & Ivan: Life, Choices runs through Aug. 27 at Pleasance Courtyard Above
