R.I.P. John Witherspoon (1942-2019)

Stand-up comedian and actor John Witherspoon, who started working comedy clubs in the 1970s and was still working the clubs into his 70s, and planned on reviving his role Willie Jones in another Friday movie, has died. Witherspoon was 77. His family announced the sad news overnight. “It is with deep sadness we have to tweet this, but our husband & father John Witherspoon has passed away. Announcing TLB Records

The Laugh Button has corralled 800 Pound Gorilla Records and Robert Kelly’s RiotCast Podcast Network into launching a new, joint record label called TLB Records. They’ll debut formally next week with the release of Mike Feeney’s “Rage Against The Routine.” Feeney’s stand-up album, recorded at New York Comedy Club, will stream Nov. 1 on SiriusXM’s Raw Dog Comedy channel, then become available everywhere digitally on Nov. 5.
