Comedy Central has sometimes leaned into stunt casting celebrities for its roasts. How else to explain “The Situation”? The situation for 2018’s upcoming Roast of Bruce Willis is much more legit, stacked with stars who either have gravitas and/or deep connections to the roastee of honor. Variety’s 10 Comics To Watch 2018

Congratulations to this year’s class of “10 Comics to Watch,” as anointed by Variety magazine and toasted in July at Montreal’s Just For Laughs festival. Variety usually compiles its list by a combination of asking industry influencers, plus forecasting based on what comics already have lined up in the coming year.
