Hasan Minhaj keynote speech at the 2017 White House Correspondents Association dinner

Hasan Minhaj faced an uphill task taking on the keynote speech at the 2017 White House Correspondents Association dinner, the first in 36 years to not feature the sitting president (and that, in 1981, was because President Reagan had been shot in an assassination attempt). No Trump. No Trump lackeys in his stead. And Samantha Bee, host of Full Frontal on TBS, was throwing a star-studded Not The White House Correspondents Dinner a few blocks away. Minhaj, a correspondent for The Daily Show with Trevor Noah on Comedy Central, joked about how many other top comedians passed on the...

“Tommy Maitland” will host ABC revival of The Gong Show. Or is it Mike Myers?

British comedy legend Tommy Maitland will host ABC’s revival of The Gong Show this summer. So says the press release. And yet. You’d think you would have heard of Tommy Maitland, or followed him on Twitter or seen his Facebook fan page if he were a true legend of comedy. Instead, @mrtommymaitland only went live today. But as my friend Megh Wright over at Splitsider has surmised, underneath that makeup lies one Mike Myers, most probably definitely. Myers recently re-emerged himself this past month, appearing on the NYC Podfest, and just this week talking up the potential of another...
