Comedy Central orders up animated series, “Brickleberry,” from Daniel Tosh

Comedy Central darling Daniel Tosh has earned a second series on the cable network, spearheading an animated comedy, Brickleberry, that’s written and created by comedians Waco O’Guin and Roger Black. The network announced an order for 10 episodes to premiere early in 2012.

Brickleberry is based on a group of dysfunctional forest rangers at a national park that escapes closure with the arrival of a new ranger. Tosh will executive produce, and he’ll voice one of the characters. No, not Yogi Bear. Nor Boo Boo. You’re thinking of the wrong show. Also, you’re old.

Quotes from the Comedy Central press release:

“Daniel Tosh pointed a gun at our heads and asked if we would put this series on the air, and we agreed that would be a good idea,” said Alterman. “It’s a bonus that it’s so funny.”

“This series has been a passion project for our company and we believe we’ve found the perfect home for it at COMEDY CENTRAL,” said Bert Salke, president, Fox 21. “Kent and his team immediately got the genius of Daniel, Waco and Roger’s twisted vision and, as they’ve shown with ‘Tosh.0,’ no one programs twisted and funny better than they do.”

“This is going to be on TV?” asked Tosh. “I thought this was a comic strip?”

“This is a dream come true for us,” said O’Guin on meeting Tosh. “He’s gorgeous.”

“Getting a show on Comedy Central is cool too,” added Black.

O’Guin and Black previously created a sketch comedy show, Stankervision, which aired on MTV2 in 2005. O’Guin’s father-in-law is a former park ranger.
