First Tease For Tha God’s Honest Truth on Comedy Central

Comedy Central teased the return of Stephen Colbert on our screens the other night.

Turns out it’s all to trumpet tha new talk show from radio personality Charlamagne Tha God, which Colbert will executive produce for Comedy Central.

Tha God’s Honest Truth with Lenard ‘Charlamagne’ McKelvey, a weekly half hour late-night series, will include “deep dives, sketches, and social experiments that deftly unpacks the most pressing topics permeating politics and culture.” It’ll film in NYC and premiere Friday, Sept. 17 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central.

Born and raised in South Carolina, Charlamagne’s radio career began as an intern while attending night school. He got his big break as the second mic to Wendy Williams, before helping to launch “The Breakfast Club” in 2010. He is the author of The New York Times bestseller Black Privilege: Opportunity Comes to Those Who Create It—which was also Audible.com’s best-selling book of the year—and Shook One: Anxiety Playing Tricks on Me. He has since founded the Mental Wealth Alliance (MWA), which supports state-of-the-art mental health services to Black people in need while building a long-term system of generational support for Black communities; in November 2020, he launched Black Privilege Publishing; last year also saw him partnering with Kevin Hart and Audible, and with iHeartMedia to create the Black Effect Podcast Network.
