Schitt’s Creek sweeps, and more from the 2020 Emmy Awards

Schitt’s Creek went out with a bang and a clean sweep of the comedy categories at the 2020 Emmy Awards, with wins for Catherine O’Hara and Eugene Levy in acting, Daniel Levy and Annie Murphy for supporting acting, and for the younger Levy in writing, and directing, and topping it all off with the big prize for outstanding comedy series.

Jimmy Kimmel hosted to an empty auditorium. Even if they tried to make it seem normal for at least the start.

In other categories and ceremonies held earlier in the week…

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver continued its streak with a fifth consecutive win in both Outstanding Variety Talk Series and as well as the writing for variety talk shows.

Saturday Night Live won again for Outstanding Variety Sketch, along with a bunch of behind the camera nods, and on-camera firsts for both Eddie Murphy and Maya Rudolph in the guest acting categories. Murphy, who returned to SNL to host in December, celebrated his first-ever Emmy win.

Rudolph won for playing U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris, and will be back for more as the Democratic VP pick in 2020. Rudolph also took home an Emmy for her voiceover work on Big Mouth.
